It was a grey and misty morning in Sidney today, not the sunny skies that were predicted, for the 2nd Annual Sidney Seaside Run. But that didn’t deter over 350 participants taking part.  Located on the ocean at Beacon Park, with the finish line on the seafront pathway, the flat course through downtown produced some fast times.

The 5K winner was Aaron Holmgreen finishing in 16:13. Last year’s winner Craig Odermatt was second in 16:32 and third was Brandon Jones in 16:44. Top female was Sara Kelly in 19:56.

Robert Johnson won the 8K in 27:01 with Matt Walsh second in 27:56 and Carson Witts third in 28:36. Fourth and top female was Jen Millar coming across the line in 29:06.

With the GoodLife Fitness Victoria Marathon just two weeks away many runners used today’s race as a warm up. Odermatt will compete in the 8K and Millar the Half Marathon. “I felt really good and it was perfect weather today and I love the course. I will be back next year,” Millar said afterwards.

The 1K Kids Dash rounded our the morning with over 30 future champions running – all coming over the finish line with a smile.

“We were pleased with the turnout today and seeing so many families involved. Our volunteers did a great job on the course and on site helping in so many areas to make it a success,” said event director, Nick Walker.
