Locals Nick Walker, a former UVic Vike and Catrin Jones, one of Canada’s top ultra-marathon runners will be competing with a mix of Americans, Kenyans and competitive athletes from across Canada on Sunday.
Two former winners of the GoodLife Fitness Victoria Marathon are back to compete in the event again. Kenyans Daniel Kipkoech, who is a three-time winner (2013-2015) and Lamech Mokono, current course record holder, will challenge each other on the streets of Victoria.
Jones will be under serious threat from American Eva Vail of Portland who ran her debut marathon on the streets of Victoria. She is coached by her husband and elite marathon runner Ryan Vail. Vail ran to second place in 2014 in the time of 2:45.54.
