Victoria HarbourCats

Fans are going to like some of the new improvements at the park this summer, and they can thank Mike Geric and Geric Construction for significant new items.

Geric Construction supported a number of Main Grandstand (Section 10) additions — cup holders, and a lot of padding. All seats in the most popular section now have padded ‘bums’, and the entire grandstand has cup holders. The very popular Campbell Real Estate Section — the first four rows, which have padded bums/backs — also has cup holders, and server presence continues to be a key feature of the Campbell Real Estate Section.

“It’s all about the fans and creating a comfortable, memorable experience,” said Richard Michaels, a marketing rep and Director of Community Outreach for the HarbourCats. “This will change the enjoyment for people, we hope, and we thank Geric for supporting this.”

Geric Construction will also be behind one of the more entertaining nights at the park this year, as they have stepped up to be the game night sponsor for our game against Cuba on Monday, July 30th, the first time ever a team from Cuba will play a West Coast League team.

Another key change people will see is the addition of “Pivetta’s Pen,” a deck constructed by Chinook Scaffolding, and completed by TRB Construction (Troy Birtwistle, also a HarbourCats assistant coach). TRB Construction worked closely with Slegg Lumber, Raven Sheet Metal, Protex Fencing and Cloverdale Paints to have the viewing platform ready for the season, which starts with a pre-season game on May 30, then the home opener on June 1 vs Wenatchee.

The deck, located down the right field line, is designed after the bullpen area at Safeco Field in Seattle, where fans can casually hang out and watch pitchers prepare to enter the game.

“This adds to what fans can do to enjoy the game and appreciate the skill of these NCAA athletes, most of them at the Division-1 level,” said Christian Stewart, the team’s Assistant GM and Ticketing Manager. “This will be a fun, social area that anyone can watch the game from, and it celebrates Nick Pivetta, who threw the first pitch in HarbourCats history and is now a star pitcher with the Philadelphia Phillies, our first MLB player.”

MONK AUTOGRAPH ZONE
Thanks to Monk Office Supplies, every home game will now include the Monk Autograph Zone, located on the concourse down the right field side. Fans, and especially kids, can get signatures on items, including a special page in the souvenir program, by visiting the table, with selected players spending time pre-game interacting with HarbourCats fans.
