Oak Bay Tier 1 U10 girls won the South Vancouver Island District fastball tournament, which included teams from Sooke, Langford, View Royal, Lakehill, Cordova Bay and two Carnarvon teams.

They are the defending champions.

The first-year Carnarvon team named the Panthers went undefeated during round robin play and entered the final round ranked number one. The first elimination game saw Carnarvon take out Lakehill followed by Langford. During the semi-final they won again, then Carnarvon took gold against the Langford Rainbows with a final score of 11-5. Langford beat out View Royal during the bronze medal game.


Three Vancouver Island Wave soccer teams claimed provincial titles.

The tournament as part of the EA Sports B.C. Soccer Premier League played June 23 and 24th for the B.C. Soccer Provincial Premier Cup.

It was an eight-team tourney that was co-hosted at Westhills and Goudy stadiums.

Saturday the Wave’s U14 boys beat Mountain United 1-0.

The U15 boys also won a title Saturday. They defeated Surrey, Armaan Nijjar and Caleb Vallance scored to secure the 2-1 victory.

With the win, the U15 boys advance to the national championships in Laval, QC in October.

On Sunday the U16 girls Wave team defeated Surrey, 2-nil.
