The bloodlines and school lineage of the latest signings by the Victoria HarbourCats should certainly make the team’s fans take notice.

Head Coach Brian McRae, his coaching staff, and the front office are pleased to announce the signings of three players from Georgia Southern – infielders and brothers Jaxxon Fagg and Jeddediah (Jedd) Fagg, and right-hander Lawson Humphries – and pitcher/outfielder Trevin Reynolds of Colorado-Mesa.

The HarbourCats anticipate making two major roster announcements as soon as next week as well.

Jaxxon and Jedd Fagg are the sons of Kip Fagg, a Washington State grad who is now senior director of amateur scouting with the Texas Rangers. Kip Fagg also coached at the college level, including two years at Long Beach State. The Fagg brothers, infielders from Gilbert, AZ, are also second cousins of new HarbourCats pitching coach Ian Sanderson (Lower Columbia College).

Jaxxon Fagg, Jedd Fagg and Lawson Humphries are also the first players from Georgia Southern to be signed by the HarbourCats, who are now in the sixth season of WCL baseball in Victoria.

“Adding another quality program to our network, and getting great players with strong baseball history, is important to continuing to grow our program,” said Jim Swanson, Managing Partner of the HarbourCats. “Jedd and Jaxxon are top recruits for us, and we’re excited about Humphries and his track record. Trevin is still excelling at both sides to this point and will have to start focusing on either hitting or pitching at some point. He’s had tremendous success in summer ball.”

Jeddediah Fagg was a three-sport star in high school and brings considerable size, playing either corner spot, a right-handed bat, and can also pitch. He was originally signed by Nevada-Reno and then played junior college at Yavapai. Jaxxson Fagg can play first or OF, and swings from the left side.

Humphries, from Phenix City, Alabama, is a sophomore at Georgia Southern. He has transitioned to full-time pitcher since being recruited out of Glenwood High School, where he was a first-team All-American in 2015, with 113 strikeouts in 66 innings as a senior.

Reynolds, is a two-way threat who was the MVP of the Kansas Collegiate Baseball League all-star game in 2017, hitting two home runs, and being named to the all-league team. The product of Las Vegas hit .331 with 35 RBIs, four home runs and 21 extra-base hits in 33 games for the Kansas Cannons, and will be a key player for Coach Chris Hanks at Colorado-Mesa this coming spring.

OF/RHP TREVIN REYNOLDS, Sophomore, Colorado-Mesa – 6-1/195, from Las Vegas, hit three home runs as a freshman for the top D-2 program, teammate of C Tanner Rempel (returning to HarbourCats in 2018) and Taylor Prokopis (2017, HarbourCats). Reynolds fanned five and walked one in five innings as a freshman.

IF/P JEDDEDIAH FAGG, Junior, Georgia Southern – 6-1/205, from Gilbert, AZ, bats right, previously at Nevada-Reno and Yavapai College, product of Williams Field High School, highly recruited out of high school as a potential college quarterback. Passed for 21 touchdowns as a high school senior.

IF/OF JAXXON FAGG, Junior, Georgia Southern – 6-1/210, also from Gilbert, AZ, bats left, product of Yavapai College, hit .329 with four home runs and 13 doubles, driving in 45 runs and made just two errors in the field.

RHP LAWSON HUMPHRIES, Sophomore, Georgia Southern – 5-10/193, from Americus, Georgia, mother Julie a three-sport star in college (basketball, softball, tennis), turns 22 on March 11. Earns top marks in academics.

Roster to date – 12 players – C Tanner Rempel; IF/OF Jaxxon Fagg; IF/P Jedd Fagg; IF/OF Jason Willow; OF Hunter Vansau; OF/P Trevin Reynolds; LHP Ethan Fox; RHPs Wyatt Boone, Garrett Goodall, Garrett Ritter, Luke Manuel, Lawson Humphries.

In November, we salute our troops, their service, thanks to Galaxy Motors and Wilson’s Group of Companies. With Remembrance Day now behind us, the HarbourCats are excited to announce that all military members and families are eligible for two-for-one 2018 season tickets this month – contact the team office for information, 1814 Vancouver St., 778-265-0327, or email brad@harbourcats.com

The HarbourCats are starting to stock the shelves for Christmas with some new hat, t-shirt and knick-knacks arriving recently. Decorative Christmas balls, team mugs, lanyards and other items are due to arrive. The new Island Proud t-shirts, along with some ladies styles, are in the shop now and for sale.

The HarbourCats continue to take nominations for the Great Teachers Contest, sponsored by Mayfair Optometric Clinic. The winner for October was Mr. Borich, who teaches a Grade 2 class at Eagle View Elementary, and his whole class will be our guests at the annual SCHOOL SPIRIT GAME on June7, a special 11:35am start time.

Each month until May, the HarbourCats will select a teacher, whose class will be guests of Mayfair Optometric Clinic at the team’s annual School Spirit Game – a day-game on June 7, slated for an 11:35am start.

To nominate a great teacher, email a submission to greatteachers@harbourcats.com

The HarbourCats have seen an uptick in season ticket purchases, and as corporate partnerships are completed, the selection of season ticket locations and single-game walkup options is getting less and less. Seats in the Diamond Club, the two-year-old on-field section are sold out, but there remain available seats in the padded/served Campbell Real Estate Club Section, and in the Main Grandstand.

To buy season tickets, or to see the new merchandise coming in this fall, call the office (778-265-0327) or stop in at 101-1814 Vancouver Street.

With the off-season now upon us, the team’s office at 101-1814 Vancouver Street will see reduced hours through the end of November. Expanded hours will be announced for December as fans look to make tickets and merchandise a big part of their gift planning.
