The sixth race in the Vancouver Island Race Series – Comox Valley RV Half Marathon – takes place on Sunday, March 20, at 11 am. There will be a 10 am start for walkers and runners anticipating finishing in more than 2.5 hours. The race starts and finishes at Florence Filberg Centre, 411 Anderton Avenue, Courtenay, and is hosted by the Comox Valley Road Runners (CVRR).
Runners can register online until 6 pm, Thursday March 17 at www.vira.bc.ca/series , or on Friday March 19, by 5 pm, at Extreme Runners, 436 5th Ave, Courtenay, or on race day. Race registration until March 17 is $30 for adults and $25 for students. Registration on Friday is $35 ($30 for students) and race day fees are $40.

The out and back course winds its way through rural Courtenay along Condensory, Piercy, Dove Creek and Burns Roads. The race may result in minor traffic delays during the event. Residents in the area are encouraged to choose alternate routes or plan their day around the event to ease congestion and to ensure the safety of the participants. The last race of the series, Sooke River 10K, takes place on April 3. This will be followed by the series awards. All races are sanctioned by BC Athletics.
