The Camosun Chargers Men’s Basketball team netted a split on the November 9 and 10 weekend, beginning with a thrilling 81-76 victory against the 2018 CCAA National Silver medalist Douglas Royals (currently ranked #11 nationally) and wrapping up their two-game road trip with a tough 103-79 loss to the Capilano Blues who are ranked #7 in the nation.

“We played well for long stretches against Douglas and were able to hold off a late push,” comments Chargers Head Coach Scot Cuachon, whose team is 1-3 and #6 in the PACWEST standings. “Capilano was a different story. They came out strong and put us on our heels early, but we managed to gather ourselves and made a run in the second quarter. Just when we were primed to take over, we went away from our plans and gave them an opportunity to regain momentum, which they did – something you can’t do against a top-ranked team in the nation.”

Leading the charge for Camosun in Friday’s victory against the Royals was fourth-year guard from Portland, OR Ty Cleland (BBA), who scored 19 points. Third-year forward Shaquille Maharaj  (BSFL) added 15 points to the winning cause. Dallas Hancox, a fourth-year forward in Camosun’s Bachelor of Sport and Fitness Leadership program, scored 18 points to notch Camosun’s game high in Saturday’s contest against the Blues.
