American derby fans were treated to a high-intensity battle between the Eves’ Belles of the Brawl and Port Scandalous’, Strait Shooters, which ended in a solid win for the Canadians; 304-55 in favour of The Belles of the Brawl.

Belles of the Brawl co-captain, Ruby Roughhouser, who was also named MVP Blocker by the opposing team, says she is excited for the upcoming season:

“The game was fast paced and hard hitting. We really came into this game feeling strong and positive and that showed on the track. Our walls were solid and we utilized partner blocking to effectively hold and recycle their jammers again and again. Our jammers worked hard to score points while our blockers executed their plays. It was a winning combination. The Strait Shooters are a great team and we can’t wait to host them this summer for a payback game.”

Kreeper Sutherland was named the Belles of the Brawl MVP Jammer. The Strait Shooters MVP’s were Meaner and Pistol for jamming and blocking.
