Canada Cup MTB Race coming to Bear Mountain in 2016
Cycling Canada has announced their calendar for 2016 and it includes a mountain bike event at Bear Mountain. 2016 Canada Cup MTB Series will have its opening event at the resort on March 5th.
The Canada Cup series is designed to provide competitive opportunities to the next generation of cyclists, transitioning from provincial race series to international competitions. Hosted in partnership between Cycling Canada, its provincial sport organizations and local organizing committee, the Canada Cup Cycling Series is sanctioned by the International Cycling Union.
In January Cycling Canada announced that the Canadian Mountain Bike Team will use Bear Mountain as its training base. It has developed an impressive array of trails and is popular not only with the local cycling community, but with event organizers. The MTB Series will run through to August and take in Mont-Tremblant, Horseshoe Valley, Hardwood Ski and Bike and St-Félicien. Whistler, during the Crankworx Festival, will host the Series finals for the XCO and DH disciplines.
