So far, it has been another banner year for Beacon Hill Little League as they sweep into the provincials starting Fri. July 20 in Trail, BC.
Beacon Hill barged through the District 7 tournament and won every game as well as the district title for the sixth time in seven years.
They will go on to and play in the provincial championships taking place July 20-22 in Trail, BC. Should they win that tournament, they will be onto the national championships that take place in Quebec Aug. 2-11. The winner of the Canadians goes on to play in the 2018 World Little League Series Aug. 16-26 as per tradition in South Williamsport, PA.
Beacon Hill defeated Central Saanich 10-1 on Sunday in the gold medal game.
Sat. July 7th vs Layritz – 9-3 win
Sun. July 8th vs National – 12-0 win
Tues. July 10th vs Hampton -10-2 win
Wed. July 11th vs Lakehill – 10-0 win
Fri. July 13th vs Central Saanich – 9-1 win
Semi-final Sat. July 14th vs Lakehill – 2-1 win
Final Sun. July 15th vs Central Saanich – 10-1 win
Meanwhile, the Beacon Hill Minor All-Stars did well to finish second overall in their tournament.
The age 8-11 ball players advanced to the semi-finals at National Little League after going 3 and 2 in round robin play.
According to the league, “Beacon Hill played a strong semi-final game beating Lakehill 8-0 Saturday, July 7th securing their spot in the finals Sunday, July 8th vs Central Saanich. After eight suspenseful innings, Central Saanich defeated Beacon Hill 4-3. Central Saanich Little League will represent District 7 (Vancouver Island) at the Little League Provincial Championships.”
