The Wisconsin Badgers NCAA division I women’s basketball team will be in Victoria to hit the court in an exhibition game Sunday at 7:00 PM at CARSA Gym.
This is an excellent opportunity for the Vikes to play a top-level American team, to see how they stack up against them.
The Badgers play in the Big Ten Conference. They will open their regular season schedule on November 11th and host their first home game of the two days later. Of the three game, seven day tour of B.C first year Coach Johnathan Tsipis said, “It’s so much more than just three games, it will allow us to take advantage of everything we are doing this summer with the extra practice days. Hopefully it will allow us to come together as a team on the floor, off the floor and really build the relationships that I think you need to have to be successful.”
Apparently the team will get to do some tourist-oriented things on their trip including visiting the Capilano Suspension Bridge, Tour Grouse Mountain as well as enjoy Whistler and ziplining on the lower mainland.
The game at CARSA is the first of three and it will be Coach Dani Sinclair’s first exhibition game against an NCAA Division 1 opponent during her five seasons of coaching the Vikes.
The Badgers will also play against the UBC Thunderbirds and University of the Fraser Valley Cascades during the tour of B.C.
The Vikes will be hosting the 2017 CIS national championships at CARSA in Marc for now though, they will continue their summer schedule August 23rd and 24th with back-to-back home games against a Japanese U-18 all-star team.
